- Anne’s ‘wildly unpredictable’ move contradicts King Charles’ orders
- Mike Tindall supports his mother-in-law as the royals step back
- Andrew’s arrest leaves Anne in big dilemma, King’s sister takes action
Princess Anne, known for her stoic and no-nonsense approach to matters especially related to the monarchy, appeared to have taken a “wildly unpredictable” step in the wake of the Andrew-Epstein scandal.
In a shocking turn of events, as all the royals distanced themselves from the embarrassed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Anne had privately contacted her middle brother, with the support of her son-in-law, Mike Tindall.
The Princess Royal maintained her firm stance earlier this week as the royals gathered at Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Day service and ignored anti-monarchy protesters milling around.
King Charles’ sister is of the opinion that private matters involving members of the royal family should remain out of public view, a policy adhered to by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
However, it became increasingly difficult for the royals to remain oblivious when humiliating photos and emails were exposed in Epstein’s files. Anne was forced to admit that it was now becoming “more difficult” for the royal to defend Andrew, according to royal expert Richard Kay.

King Charles has made it clear that Andrew is expelled from the royal fold, stripped of his titles and honours, and other members are also advised to stay away from York, especially given the strong feelings of the British towards the former prince.
Although it seems like a slight act of defiance if Anne has stayed in touch.
“Shocked by his arrest, I understand she has remained in contact with him,” the royal expert said. “Despite that gruff, move-on family approach she inherited from Prince Philip, Anne has been concerned for Andrew’s mental well-being as their world has imploded.”
He continued: “Interestingly, this has been encouraged by his son-in-law, former rugby player Mike Tindall, who may have more real-world experience than any other royal.”
Insiders insist that the Princess Royal understands that “the risk of damage to the institution’s reputation would be considerable” if the royals maintained their links with Andrew. Furthermore, she supports King Charles’ decision and remains “devoted” to the monarch.
