Bhakkar raid thwarts flour hoarding attempt

BHAKKAR:

The Bhakkar Food Department carried out a major operation against hoarders, recovering a large quantity of flour from a secret warehouse during a raid carried out following a tip-off.

District Food Controller Adil Abbas Dagra led the operation in the lower Mouza Kachi Shahani area where officials seized approximately 30,000 kilograms of flour with an estimated market value of Rs 2.8 million.

During the operation, the secret warehouse used to store the flour was sealed and judicial and departmental actions were initiated against those involved.

Speaking to journalist Rana Amir Aslam, district food controller Adil Abbas Dagra said the department had received information that a large quantity of flour had been illegally hoarded in the lower Mouza Kachi Shahani area.

Acting quickly on the tip-off, the Food Department team carried out a raid and recovered the flour from the site.

He said the hoarded flour was supposedly meant to be supplied to other cities and sold at higher prices, but the department’s timely action thwarted the attempt.

The official added that hoarding and speculation will not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such activities.
