Pashaei opposes the alleged silencing and retaliation against American athletes who have spoken out in favor of protecting women’s sports from biological trans male athletes.
“To me, it’s not really acceptable to hear that people will be silenced when they think something is unfair to them,” Pashaei told Pak Gazette Digital.
“I’m against silencing athletes. If they have a concern, if they think something is not fair to them, because as an athlete, you know, you have to have a lot of discipline, expend a lot of energy to get to that level, and then, you know, this is your dream of becoming a world champion or an Olympic champion. So, for all athletes, there should be equal opportunities and also an atmosphere where everyone can talk and also share any concerns that they have.”

Pashaei, who won the World Junior Wrestling Championships in 1998, also urged the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to exercise vigilance to protect the women’s category.
“I think the International Olympic Committee should pay attention to this and also, based on the scientific standard, try to create equal opportunities for everyone to compete,” he said.
“And everyone should compete in sports on the field at the level they’re supposed to be at. And I know this is getting complicated, but I think every athlete in the world wants to have a fair game to compete in.”
