To celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Cities: horizons franchise, Iceflake Studios has released a special Cities: Horizons 2 Get upgraded with new game features and two creator packs.
The anniversary patch, which is now available on all platforms, “won’t be the biggest you’ve ever seen” according to the studio, but it still includes a brand new resource and new playable content for players to enjoy.
The biggest feature of the upgrade is the new dedicated commercial building, the Iceflake Arena, “which offers its citizens suitable entertainment such as concerts and ice hockey games.” The stadium offers the players’ cities an “increased attractiveness and well-being for the entire city”, and is even equipped with a stylish sauna.

In addition to sand, the developer has added new toggleable zoning tools, inspired by popular mods, that make building much easier. It will also be updated more in the future.
“Inspired by River-mochi’s awesome ‘Zone Tools’ and ‘Easy Zoning’ mods, we’ve now added a zoning switch that allows you to remove zoning from any path where it’s not wanted. You can choose to remove zoning from either side or both sides, depending on your preference,” said Iceflake.
Players can now also access a new in-game encyclopedia, previously known as hlossary, which offers information on different aspects of the game, which players can read by browsing through different categories and DLC features.
The tool expands on the tutorials that players see during gameplay, and while it reuses much of the information displayed there, the new search feature makes navigation much easier.
In addition to a number of bug fixes, the anniversary patch is also accompanied by the release of two new Creator Packs, Office Evolution from ‘Titan’ and City Stations from ‘BadPeanut’, each of which includes a new radio station that can be purchased separately or as part of a pack.
Office Evolution will offer players a new high-density office zone, while City Stations expands the Train Stations creator pack for the original. Cities: horizons by implementing a series of new constructions, upgrades and more types of transportation.
As for what’s next, Iceflake Studios said it has “a lot more in store for you in the near future” and hints at something new in the second quarter of the year, as well as solutions to issues that have been pointed out on its forums.
