World Indoor Athletics Championships 2026: How to watch, schedule and key matchups

The 2026 World Indoor Athletics Championships have brought together the world’s best track and field athletes for a three-day spectacle running from March 20-22.

The event has 674 competitors in 26 events.

Star power on display

The focus is on the men’s pole vault on the Swede Mondo Duplantis, who has won 15 world records in the event and reaches the championship after surpassing 6.31 m just a few days ago.

Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson, who recently set a new indoor world record in the women’s 800m, leads the charge in the middle distance events, which also includes defending champion Josh Kerr in the 3,000m.

Kerr faces a rematch with Paris 2024 1,500m champion Cole Hocker of the United States in the 3,000m event.

In the sprints, Kishane Thompson of Jamaica and Trayvon Bromell of the United States will challenge defending British champion Jeremiah Azu in the men’s 60 meters.

Saint Lucia’s Olympic champion in the 100 meters event, Julien Alfred, is a clear favorite in the women’s event.
