You may soon be able to sign in to Windows 11 without a Microsoft account, with software engineers “working on it”

  • Microsoft may eliminate the need to set up Windows 11 with a Microsoft account
  • A company executive says software engineers are working on it
  • There is no indication yet of when the change might be implemented.

Microsoft has told users that big improvements are coming to Windows 11 (improvements covering the amount of AI that appears in the software, how updates are handled, and much more) and that the operating system setup process could also get a welcome tweak.

As discovered by Windows Latest, in response to an X user’s query about the possibility of setting up Windows 11 without a Microsoft account, Microsoft executive Scott Hanselman says software engineers are now “working on it.”
