Lisa Kudrow has strong opinions on what remains arguably the biggest debate between Friends Fans: Were Ross and Rachel on a break?
The actress, who rose to fame as Phoebe Buffay in the hit 90s sitcom, revealed she is firmly on Rachel’s side when it comes to one of TV’s most iconic breakups. Kudrow made the revelation while speaking with Entertainment tonight on the red carpet for the premiere of the third season of his comedy The return
“Rachel now!” Kudrow responded definitively, admitting that she was previously Team Ross, but has since changed her stance since she recently started re-watching the show. “I have changed.”
“Ross was ridiculous,” he added. easy to actress. “What a baby! You can’t plan a future with that guy.”
Kudrow, of course, was referring to the infamous Season 3 episode in which a heartbroken Ross (David Schwimmer) sleeps with the copier girl hours after Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) suggests they “take a break” from their relationship.
In the next season, the on-again, off-again couple briefly reunite during a beach getaway. However, Ross rejects Rachel’s demand that he take “full responsibility” for their breakup and shouts the iconic line, “We were on a break!”
The phrase would later become a running gag on the show and sparked endless debate among fans.
