- Majority introduces the D50X bookshelf speakers…
- …and automatic record player
- Both affordable, colorful and arrived in time for Record Store Day
If the high cost of vinyl-ready hi-fi equipment puts you off, then Majority’s new release might change your mind (as might our audio editor’s roundup of four powerful two-product wireless vinyl setups), and it’s here just in time for Record Store Day on April 18.
The brand has unveiled two new offerings, which are already on sale at various UK retailers (availability in the US and Australia is TBC, but unlikely).
First up is the Majority D50X, a pair of bookshelf speakers that come in red, green, white, or black. They produce 60W with a variety of connection options and cost £69.95 (around $100 / AU$140).

Then there’s the Majority Auto, an automatic Bluetooth turntable that’s priced at £129.95. It has a built-in phono preamp, auto arm and belt drive, and aux and line outputs, as well as Bluetooth. It seems like a perfect RSD preparation to me…
As you can see from the price, neither of these devices are aimed at the very picky audiophile for whom money is no object, especially since Bluetooth is the name of the game. But they are an affordable way for the average buyer to get an easy-to-use vinyl setup.
Record Store Day Incoming
Record Store Day is a UK institution, when independent record stores across the UK and Ireland come together to offer promotions to celebrate the vinyl format.
This year it falls on April 18 and the organizers have already shared a list of the exclusive releases that are sold on that day.
Naturally, people who don’t own a turntable are left out of the celebrations, and since many of the best turntables cost quite a bit of money (not to mention decent speakers that cost more), people who don’t have big budgets may feel left out.
Fortunately, there are some inexpensive turntables available and this new Majority package will be a perfect way to enjoy the fun of Record Store Day without breaking the bank.
