Bruce Campbell won’t let his recent cancer diagnosis slow him down.
The legend of terror, best known for The evil dead franchise, revealed earlier this month that he is battling a “treatable” but not “curable” form of cancer.
However, his attention remains firmly focused on his latest project, Ernie and Emmawhich he wrote, directed and starred in.
“It doesn’t change anything for me,” Campbell said. USA today. “It makes you prioritize 100 percent, and for me, the priority is this movie.”
The film follows a widowed pear seller on a journey to scatter his wife’s ashes, reliving memories of their marriage along the way.
Produced with his wife Ida Gearon, Campbell described the project as his most personal collaboration yet: “We were finally able to do something that had no outside influence. We did it in our own little bubble.”
Campbell has already canceled several appearances at fan conventions to undergo treatment, but assured fans that he is determined to continue working:
“Fear not, I’m a tough old motherfucker and I have great support, so I hope to be here for a while. As always, you are the biggest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon.”
