A royal photographer came across an emotional moment of Princess Kate’s return to the hospital where she had undergone cancer treatment.
Chris Jackson, who has captured many moments of the British royal family over the decades, spoke about Princess Catherine’s engagement at the Royal Marsden Hospital in January 2025.
Jackson detailed what was happening behind the scenes of the photo he took of the Princess of Wales in hospital when he announced she was in remission.
“Often you can find yourself in these incredible historical moments,” he said. Us weekly.
“As a real photographer, you are very present in the moment, even demeanor, decorum and all those other elements are very important,” he continued.
He added: “I’ll never forget as she walked up the stairs, she literally looked up and I felt in that millisecond that there were definitely some memories of that place.
“I imagine going there for treatment. It was quite a highlight of her life, and clearly meeting the doctors and nurses there who knew her and the patients she really wanted to see there was very emotional.”
When Kate returned to The Royal Marsden, staff lined the hallways to see her. “They were very excited to see her,” Jackson said in Hello!’s “A Proper Real Podcast.”
“There was one lady in particular along the way who gave him a big hug and chatted to some really lovely patients who were going through their own journey,” he added. “And she was listening to everything they had to say.”
“So it was a really significant commitment,” Jackson continued.
