- The Trump Mobile T1 has passed through the FCC
- It’s a sign that we may eventually see a release.
- The phone was announced in July 2025.
If you think back to June 2025, you might remember the announcement of the Trump Mobile T1 phone, apparently “made in the USA.” and backed by the White House. Since then, we’ve heard very little about the phone, but it looks like it’s still on the way.
Full marks to Dominic Preston at The Verge, who has been patiently monitoring the progress (or lack thereof) around Trump’s phone. In a new article, he reports that he discovered a filing of the phone with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The presentation doesn’t tell us much about the phone, but it does indicate that it’s coming: FCC approval is something all devices must obtain if they want to go on sale in the United States. It’s not a guarantee that we’ll see the Trump T1 anytime soon, but it’s something.
Article continues below.
As Preston reports, the filing lists the phone’s maker as Smart Gadgets Global, a company with a basic website. The terms and conditions page on that site simply lists instructions on how to write the terms and conditions, which fits with the chaotic nature of Trump’s phone project so far.
‘Proud of America’
Because we’ve heard so little about the Trump phone since it was announced, there have been genuine doubts that the phone will ever go on sale, even though deposits of $100 have been taken from customers (it’s unclear how many). The phone was originally scheduled to launch in August 2025, although that clearly hasn’t happened.
Head to the Trump Mobile website and you’ll see that you can still deposit $100 towards your own Trump phone, although we don’t recommend it at this time. Note that it’s also now “proud American” instead of “made in the USA.”
Hopes that the product is real were raised last month when two Trump Mobile executives showed off the phone during a video call with Preston, but since then they have apparently been ignoring his emails.
We’ve previously heard from analysts who doubt the Trump T1 will ever see the light of day, but as we approach eight months from the originally promised launch date, there are still some signs that they will eventually be in the hands of users.
