The latest forecasts come after Sony announced another price increase for the PS5. After the price increase, the PS5 Pro now costs around $900 in the United States.
The rise in game console prices is due to rising component and manufacturing costs, along with currency fluctuations.
The same factors were attributed to the price increase in the latest round of increases, which affected the standard PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, and PS5 Pro.
Additionally, Microsoft’s next console, internally codenamed “Project Helix,” is unlikely to cost less, particularly the 2TB Xbox Series X, which isn’t available for $800 without major power upgrades.
With the price increase, concerns have arisen regarding the accessibility of these consoles.
Amid this wave of price increases, Nintendo is an exception. Their Switch line remains on the affordable end. However, it cannot remain immune to industry-wide cost pressure for longer periods.
The PS6 and the next Xbox are expected to launch around 2028.
