- The PS5 Pro is flying off Amazon’s (virtual) shelves in the US.
- This is due to Sony’s announcement of a big price increase.
- The PS5 Pro will soon cost $150 / £90 more than now
Last week, Sony announced that it would increase the price of all its PlayStation consoles and many major accessories on April 2, 2026.
In a PlayStation blog post that blamed “continued pressures on the global economic landscape” for the move, the company revealed that the price of a PS5 will increase by $100 / £100 to $649.99 / £569.99 (up from $549.99 / £479.99), while the PS5 Digital Edition will cost $599.99 / £519.99 instead. $499.99 / £429.99.
One of the biggest jumps was the cost of a PS5 Pro, with Sony’s already expensive console hitting $899.99/£789.99, up from $749.99/£699.99.

Perhaps it should come as no surprise that gamers are flocking to online retailers to get their hands on the console at the current rate, with the PS5 Pro climbing Amazon’s best-seller list in the video game category in the US.
Right now, it’s actually the most popular PlayStation model at the retailer, narrowly beating out the standard PS5 console and labeled as the number one best-selling PlayStation 5 console when added to your cart.
If you head over to the PlayStation subreddit, you can already see plenty of new PS5 Pro owners discussing their purchases. “After hearing about the recent price increases planned for April 2, I went ahead and pulled the trigger,” said one savvy shopper.
“I was undecided but I was very leaning towards a purchase before GTA 6 and Sony went and forced me.”
For our money, the PS5 Pro is one of the best gaming consoles around today, but it’s undeniably a specialist piece of kit designed for the most dedicated PlayStation enthusiasts.
Our PS5 Pro review highlighted its “glorious” performance and the “new level of immersion and beauty” it brings to gaming, although it noted that these improvements are “not hugely transformative” compared to a generational leap like the one between PS4 and PS5.
