KARACHI: Rainfall was reported in several areas of the city on Thursday, with intermittent rain continuing in several neighbourhoods.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast more rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in Karachi later in the day.
Areas such as Surjani town, Gulshan-e-Maymar and surrounding areas received rainfall, while thunderstorm activity was recorded near the airport and Malir. Other localities like Old City Area, Saddar, Korangi, Defense and Clifton also experienced rain.

Intermittent rain was also reported in Malir, Quaidabad, Landhi and PECHS, while Shah Faisal Colony, Nazimabad and Garden saw rain in phases.
According to the Meteorological Office, the minimum temperature recorded in the city was 23.5 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to reach 27°C. Humidity levels were recorded at 83%, which contributed to the prevailing weather conditions.
The Sindh government is on alert in view of rains in Karachi, Chief Minister Sharjeel Memon said. He said advance preparations to deal with the rains have been completed and staff leaves have been cancelled.
Additional bilge pumps have been installed to drain water from low-lying areas, he added. Choke points have been identified throughout the city and personnel have been deployed to monitor them. The government has put relevant municipal departments and authorities on high alert, Memon said.
