The Chicago Cubs opened the 2026 season with a six-game homestand at historic Wrigley Field.

Among the thousands of Cubs fans who passed through the turnstiles at the famed ballpark on Chicago’s North Side was at least one who took seriously the start of Wednesday’s “businessmen’s special” afternoon.

Temperatures in the Windy City did not exceed 40 degrees on Wednesday, and one fan, wrapped in a coat and hat, was multitasking on his cell phone and laptop, apparently working after the 2 p.m. first pitch.

The moment mirrors one from last season, when cameras caught a fan wearing shorts and working on his computer during an August 2025 game at Wrigley Field instead of winter clothing.

The fan even brought a computer mouse as he focused intently on his computer as the Cubs took on the Milwaukee Brewers.

However, the match announcers questioned what he was doing.

“There’s only one question: is this guy working?” said a station. “Or maybe you’re reviewing your fantasy football draft.”

The Cubs were off Thursday and will resume action Friday in Cleveland as they open a three-game series against the Guardians.
