Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the money saved through the government’s austerity and simplicity measures will be spent on the public. The prime minister chaired a meeting on Saturday to review the country’s oil reserves and public aid measures amid recent regional tensions. He said, "The provision of relief funds to public transport and freight vehicle operators through digital wallets has begun."
He added that, under an effective and transparent system, the digital transfer of subsidies to public transport buses and wagons, as well as to goods transport trucks and cargo vehicles, began. He said, "We strive to ensure that aid reaches the economically weakest segments as quickly as possible."
Sharif said: "We will not leave our people alone in difficult times."
He maintained that providing help to the common man in difficult circumstances was the government’s top priority. At the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed about the progress in the implementation of public aid measures in the face of the increase in the prices of petroleum products. The report states that there are sufficient reserves of petroleum products available to meet the country’s needs. The meeting also reported on progress in the implementation of public aid initiatives. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Dr Musadik Masood Malik, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant Talha Burki and other senior officials.
