PM Shehbaz praises kingdom’s ‘long-standing economic and financial support’ in meeting with Saudi finance minister

He says it has played a vital role in stability and emphasizes Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday praised Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the kingdom’s long-standing economic and financial support for Pakistan, saying he had played a vital role in the country’s stability.

The comments came during a meeting between the prime minister and Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, who visited him at the Prime Minister House during his one-day visit to Islamabad.

“The prime minister conveyed his respectful greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Recalling his recent telephone conversation with the crown prince, the statement said the prime minister “expressed his appreciation for the crown prince’s deep affection for Pakistan, as well as the kingdom’s long-standing economic and financial support for Pakistan over the years, which had played a vital role in Pakistan’s economic stability.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated that the people and government of Pakistan have always stood shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia at all times.

“This is a long-standing bond between both countries that has been strengthened under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince,” the prime minister said.

He highlighted Pakistan’s strong commitment to expanding cooperation with the kingdom in all spheres, particularly in trade, investment and economic development.

“The Saudi Finance Minister thanked the Prime Minister and reaffirmed the determination of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to further strengthen the long-standing and deeply rooted brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, as envisioned by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman,” the statement added.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
