Hey Frank, the first trailer for your Marvel TV special aka The Punisher: One Last Deathhas been published and, well, it has left me with more questions than answers.
Would you like to tell us more about your upcoming Disney+ special presentation? No? I guess I’ll have to give my two cents on what it seems to tell us about its plot, supporting cast, and more.
Look
Below, I’ve rounded up some of the most popular questions Marvel fans have asked since the previous trailer, which dropped yesterday (April 9) and arrived a few days later. one last deathThe first clip was revealed. Then I’ll do my best to answer them or at least offer my theories about their history before I get started. The Punisher: One Last DeathReleased May 12/13.

Possible spoilers follow for the special presentation of The Punisher. Full spoilers also follow. for his eponymous Netflix show and Daredevil: Born Again season 1, so proceed with extreme caution.
1. Is Curtis Hoyle dead in The Punisher: One Last Kill?

One of the greatest, if not he The biggest questions on Marvel fans’ minds following the trailer’s release concern Jason R. Moore’s Curtis Hoyle.
For those who may have forgotten: The former Navy SARC is not only a close friend of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, but also someone who regularly helped Castle on both seasons of the punisher on Netflix. In fact, whether giving Castle free therapy (Hoyle became a counselor for other veterans suffering from PTSD after losing a leg during active duty) or giving him information, Hoyle was always someone Castle could trust.

That makes his likely disappearance even more heartbreaking. Hoyle was alive and well at the end of the punisherbut based on one last deathIn the trailer, it appears that he is no longer there. That’s evident in the brief scenes we see in which Castle hallucinates his fallen comrades in the U.S. military. With Hoyle among them, it seems like he died (or worse, was murdered) since we last saw him.
Will Castle will learn of the death of one of his best friends as part of one last deathThe story of? Or is this something that happened before, say, his small supporting role in season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again?
If it’s the latter, it would explain why he stayed hidden when we met him in that Marvel Phase 6 TV show, especially if someone was targeting Castle (and, later, his allies) to seek retribution for something Castle had done. Who could it be? Good…
2. Who tries to kill Frank Castle in The Punisher TV special?

A considerable portion of the first trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television special is dedicated to Castle’s inner demons resurfacing and him struggling to deal with the mental toll they continually take on him.
However, around its midpoint, we see Castle standing in the virtually empty room he’s renting in New York City as a trail of fuel, which has spilled and leaked under the door of said apartment, is set on fire. With his pants on fire, Castle roars before charging headlong toward the apartment’s front door, presumably to attack whoever is trying to kill him.
So who is to blame? We don’t know, but as I have speculated in my guide dedicated to The Punisher: One Last Deaththe most likely candidate is Ma Gnucci.
For those who don’t know: Ma Gnucci – real name Isabella Carmela Magdalena Gnucci – is the head of the, well, Gnucci crime family. In the comics, the leader of New York’s largest criminal enterprise has a long-running vendetta with Castle that began when the latter killed his three children.
What is the runtime of The Punisher: One Last Kill?
Marvel Studios hasn’t definitively confirmed how long it will last, but industry insiders have stated that it will last around 60 minutes. However, it’s unclear if that includes tracking the end credits and possible post-credits scenes.
Willpower one last death adapt this story and reveal that Bernthal’s antihero murdered Gnucci’s offspring, thus starting a feud that claimed lives on both sides? I wouldn’t be surprised, especially since the deadly fight between Gnucci and Castle begins in ‘Welcome Back, Frank,’ the 2011 graphic novel created by Garth Ennis, Steve Dillon, and Jimmy Palmiotti.
That comic series is a clear inspiration for the Anti-Vigilance Task Force (AVTF) in Daredevil: Born Again (NB: it is called Punished Task Force in the source material), so there is already a connection between said graphic novel and Daredevil’s own MCU television series.
Let us not forget that, when Jon Bernthal announced one last deathThe first Instagram poster was accompanied by the caption “Welcome back, Frank.” Coincidence? I don’t think so. To me, then, it would make a lot of sense if One Last Kill imagines the story told in ‘Welcome Back, Frank’.
3. Where does The Punisher: One Last Kill take place in the Marvel timeline?

The MCU timeline has confused many fans in the wake of Avengers: Endgame – you can find out more about this in my Marvel movie order guide, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if some viewers weren’t sure where one last death fits into said timeline.
My opinion is that it will probably take place around the same time as Daredevil: Born Again season 2. For one thing, Bernthal Castle won’t appear in the final season of the aforementioned show, so it’s clear he’ll be doing his own thing instead of helping the titular vigilante take down New York’s autocratic and criminal mayor, Wilson Fisk.
There is an even bigger clue in one last deathHowever, the trailer. At 1:03, we see Castle walking down a street as chaos erupts around him. Born again 2 Spoilers notwithstanding, if Fisk’s heavy-handed approach causes unrest in later episodes, it’s not unreasonable to suggest that The Punisher TV special will be set in the final throes of born again season 2.
Alternatively, it could happen immediately after this season’s finale, which, as born again Showrunner Dario Scardapane has already confirmed that he will end Mayor Fisk’s story. Without a recognized mayor, New York could temporarily fall into anarchy, which would explain why Castle is surrounded by scenes of a chaotic nature.
4. How will One Last Kill set up Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

By now, it’s common knowledge that The Punisher will appear in Spider-Man: New Day. In fact, after reports indicated that Bernthal Castle would appear in spider man 4 Last June his appearance was confirmed in new dayThe first trailer.
Of course, this begs the question: The Punisher: One Last Death impact directly spider man 4The story, or at least Castle’s role in the process? I think that’s how it will be. Aside from the fact that Spider-Man and The Punisher live and operate in New York, it’s hard to say why the latter will have a supporting role to play. I have my theories; you can read them in the guide for one last death which I linked to above, but until the special presentation led by Bernthal is published, I cannot fully respond to this query.
For now, find out what we know so far about Spider-Man: New Day. Once you’re done, read my new day Cast and character guide to see who else will appear in the MCU movie.
