Sony has revealed the first official images of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse – but only behind closed doors.
As part of its presentation at CinemaCon 2026 yesterday (April 13), Sony Pictures showed off the first two minutes, plus a quick preview of other clips, from the upcoming animated film. Unfortunately, the footage was shown exclusively to attendees, so it’s highly unlikely the rest of us will see it.

There’s also quite a bit to remove from the gallery above.
For starters, it looks like we’ll get a flashback of Miles’ father Jefferson Davis and his uncle Aaron before they got into a fight, or of Miles visiting another dimension where the couple didn’t split up like they do in Miles’ universe. There’s also a shot of Miles and his father having a tender moment in the former’s bedroom, which could also be from the past, as it appears to show the younger version of Miles we see in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verseinstead of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-VerseThe teenage version.
The last two images show Spider-Punk’s fan-favorite rebel scrapbook animation style and a shot of Miguel O’Hara grabbing Miles. The latter reminds me of a scene of the couple’s fight in Through the Spider-VerseSo I’m interested in knowing if this is a stylized version of what Miles remembers from that painful encounter, or if it represents a new confrontation between them. I guess we’ll know for sure when Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse hits theaters worldwide on June 18, 2027.
Why Fans Are Still Skeptical About Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Release Date
With its first footage and a ton of new images revealed, one would think that fans of this animated film franchise would be more confident than ever that it will meet its current release date. However, that’s not the case, and I can completely understand why some still have doubts about its release in mid-2027.
In fact, before Through the Spider-VerseAlthough it debuted in theaters in June 2023, its sequel was initially expected to arrive just nine months later in March 2024. However, following a damning report about the apparently dire working conditions on that film, coupled with the 2023 Hollywood strikes, Beyond the Spider-Verse was removed entirely from Sony’s 2024 film lineup.
Since then, its release date has fluctuated around various dates. Last April it was announced that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was due to come out on June 4, 2027. However, two months later, its release was delayed to June 25, 2027, just two months later, before its release was moved up a week to its current date of June 18, 2027 in September 2025.
I’ll never stop laughing at the fact that they originally announced this for March 2024. Really, what the fuck were they smoking? https://t.co/6RZdTATczoApril 14, 2026
Given its long development cycle, its predecessor’s reported crisis, and shifting release dates, it’s easy to see why some people still doubt it will arrive next June. In the hours since Sony’s CinemaCon 2026 panel ended, fans have taken to Reddit, the ResetEra forums, and other social platforms like X/Twitter to say how absurd that was. Beyond the Spider-Verse It was supposed to come out two years ago and they express concern about another possible delay.
For what it’s worth, Spider-Verse movie producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have rejected the idea of the third and final movie being delayed again. In fact, in an exclusive chat with me last month, they confidently stated that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse it will be ready to go in June 2027. In the same interview, they also stated that we would see their first footage “soon.” I just wish that by “we” they meant all of us, and not just CinemaCon attendees…
