Bradley Cooper has officially signed on to direct and star in the upcoming Ocean‘s prequel, joining forces with Margot Robbie to bring the origins of the heist franchise to the big screen.
The news was confirmed by Warner Bros. studio heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy during their presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, ending months of speculation in the industry.
While the film is still untitled, the studio has already set a release date of June 25, 2027, with Cooper also serving as a producer alongside Robbie’s LuckyChap label.
The prequel will take fans back to the year 1962, long before Danny Ocean made his mark on the Las Vegas Strip.
During a virtual appearance at the presentation, Margot Robbie revealed that the story centers on the “two masterminds” who taught Danny everything he knows, his parents.
Robbie joked that audiences will see the pair at their best as they pull off an epic heist.
