Pakistan condemned Israeli attacks in Lebanon during a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the United Nations and called for an immediate ceasefire and uninterrupted humanitarian access to the affected areas.

Speaking at the ambassador-level session at UN Headquarters, Deputy Permanent Representative Usman Jadoon warned that the humanitarian situation in Lebanon was rapidly deteriorating.

He stated that ongoing Israeli bombings, particularly in southern Lebanon and densely populated areas, were seriously harming civilians and causing widespread destruction of critical infrastructure.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, Jadoon described Israel’s continued military actions as a flagrant violation of international law.

“The large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure and violations of humanitarian law must stop immediately,” he stressed.

Additionally, Pakistan condemned attacks on peacekeepers serving in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, noting that such incidents posed serious risks to international peace efforts.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Pakistan welcomed the measures taken by the Lebanese government to restore stability and strengthen state authority. He also welcomed initiatives aimed at reducing tensions, including a proposed four-point peace plan.

Pakistan has called on the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts, ensure provision of emergency humanitarian assistance and work to reduce tensions to avoid escalation of hostilities.
