- DC fans are increasingly convinced it won’t be Maxima

Star Wars actor, who played Bix Caleen in both seasons of the franchise’s critically acclaimed television show. Andor on Disney+, has apparently joined The man of tomorrowThe cast. The movie that follows 2025 Superman film, will begin filming next week.
Before cameras start rolling on the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film directed by Gunn, major Hollywood publications (Deadline, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter (THR)) have claimed that Arjona had won the race to appear. The man of tomorrow.
Article continues below.
Last week, the same media indicated that Arjona was one of four stars who had auditioned for a key role in the comic book movie. Deadline was the first to report on those screen tests, prompting Gunn to criticize what he called “shoddy and incorrect” reporting on social media. Variety and THR soon published their articles on the same topic, and in light of these latest articles, it seems there was some truth to those initial reports.
Will Adria Arjona play Máxima or Wonder Woman in The Man of Tomorrow?
With Arjona seemingly becoming the latest addition to the cast of the DCU Chapter One film, attention now turns to which character he will play.
In their latest reports, Deadline and Variety suggested that she will play Maxima, also known as the Queen of Almenac, who has long been rumored to appear in The man of tomorrow. However, of late, some DC fans have become increasingly convinced that Gunn is cleverly using Maxima as misdirection to hide the fact that The man of tomorrow In fact, it will introduce Wonder Woman to the DCU.
THR’s article about Arjona’s alleged casting has only fueled that rumor further. In fact, as part of its own report, the outlet said, “It was previously reported that the character was comic anti-heroine Máxima, but it is unknown if that is correct.” Some fans suggested that Arjona would be the perfect choice for Wonder Woman after Gunn announced that a new film starring Themysciran was in development last June, with many more now believing that Arjona will play Diana Prince, not Maxima.
“Gunn is using Maxima to hide Wonder Woman,” said one fan in a Reddit thread about Arjona’s casting. “It’s still entirely possible that Gunn and his team told the trades it was for Maxima, when it’s actually Wonder Woman,” another mused, before adding: “Rumor has it she’ll only be a brief appearance as Supergirl at the end of Superman. Why would he specifically choose Adria to play Maxima just for it to be a brief cameo… hmm…?
“I’m still pretty convinced it’s Wonder Woman lol, but we’ll see,” another wrote, before someone else theorized: “With Gunn, these denials are often half-truths, and the fact that THR isn’t sure to confirm it’s Maxima makes me lean towards Wonder Woman (or possibly another character they don’t want to reveal yet).”
Meanwhile, a thread on the ResetEra forums is full of users expressing similar sentiments.
“Yes, I’m getting on the Wonder Woman train,” someone wrote. “She [Arjona] should have been saved for Diana [Prince]” another added. “She’s totally Wonder Woman,” someone else mused, and another added, “What a waste if she’s not Wonder Woman.”
For what it’s worth, Gunn has not taken to social media to comment and/or deny Arjona’s rumored casting. It seems, then, that this speculation could be founded. I guess we’ll know for sure if behind-the-scenes footage of The man of tomorrowIt’s ready once principal photography begins. In the meantime, find out everything we know so far about The man of tomorrow ahead of its launch in July 2027.
