Half of American workers now say they use some form of AI technology in their jobs, pushing the number above the breaking point for the first time.
New research from Gallup found that 50% of employees now reported using AI tools at work in some way, a 4% increase from the previous quarter and a 21% increase from the same period just three years ago.

Acceptance of AI
The Gallup poll, which was conducted Feb. 4-19, 2026, specifically asked 23,717 U.S. employees how often they used AI as part of their role and what effect it was having on their work.
It found that AI use at work is also increasing: 13% of employees now say they use AI daily, and 28% report using it a few times a week or more.
Overall, companies appear to be getting used to the changes: 41% of employees report that their organization has integrated AI in a bid to improve organizational practices, up three points from the previous quarter.
Workers at AI-enabled companies were more likely to report “disruptions” and both positive and negative changes in staffing levels, along with an increase in productivity.
However, only one in 10 employees at organizations adopting AI said they strongly agree that the technology has transformed the way work is done in their organization.
The survey found that 27% of employees at companies adopting AI say their workplace has changed disruptively to a great or very great extent over the past year, compared to just 17% at companies not using AI.
More workers are expressing concern about the effect AI will have on their jobs, with a staggering 18% of all employees surveyed saying they would be very or somewhat likely to have their job eliminated in the next five years due to AI or automation.
“The majority of employees who use AI report improvements in their productivity and efficiency, particularly in leadership and knowledge-based roles where they can easily apply AI to daily tasks,” Gallup noted in its report.
“However, for many workers, these benefits appear at the level of individual tasks rather than broader workplace systems. While some employees report transformational effects, relatively few say that AI has fundamentally changed the way work is done across their organization.”
