From Sayonara to Surface Hub
First launched in 2015, Microsoft envisioned the Surface Hub as a way to boost collaboration and productivity in office spaces, with a large screen (that could be rotated) that could be wheeled to wherever people needed it.
The Surface Hub 3, released in 2023, was available in 50- and 85-inch sizes, starting at $8,000 for the smallest model and $20,000 for the largest model, making it firmly at the “premium” end of the market and out of reach for smaller businesses.
Windows Center It states that Microsoft and third-party retailers still have stock available to sell, but these will be the last items on sale, so if you want to snag one for a possibly lower price, you’ll need to be quick.
Microsoft recently confirmed that the Surface Hub 3 will continue to support firmware and operating system updates until the end of 2030, so the devices won’t become unusable anytime soon.
The device also has a modular design, meaning users can upgrade its internal components for additional performance without removing the entire display.
The news is the latest blow to Microsoft’s hardware goals, after the company revealed that it would be forced to increase prices for its Surface Laptop and Surface Book devices due to global component shortages.
