The Chapultepec Golf Club did not live up to Bryson DeChambeau’s standards.
The two-time US Open winner headed to the LIV Golf event in Mexico City amid questions about his financing beyond this season, and was not thrilled with course conditions in one area.
After hitting a bunker shot on the 16th, DeChambeau found himself in a patchy spot where the grass had not fully grown anywhere.

“You have destroyed grass,” DeChambeau said. “Oh, is this tough? Definitely. Good to see.”
DeChambeau then waited for a rules official, apparently because of his lie, but he wasn’t exactly given the benefit of the doubt. Then he jumped onto the green.
DeChambeau wasn’t thrilled with the course last year, citing “the worst bunkers ever.”
He ended up shooting an even second round for the second day in a row.
The frustration comes on the heels of missing the cut at The Masters just a year after being in the final group with eventual champion Rory McIlroy. DeChambeau was the second favorite to win behind Scottie Scheffler.

LIV Golf made its stop in Mexico City amid initial reports and a confirmation from CEO Scott O’Neil that Saudi Arabia will end its funding after this season.
“And then you work like crazy as a company to create a business and a business plan that keeps us going. But that’s no different than any other private equity-funded business in human history,” O’Neil said Thursday.
“What I’m really excited about is how we’re moving forward. I talked about some structural changes, which are coming. You can ask about 50 people I met in Augusta, I put the plan in motion. We have one, it might surprise some people…” he added.
“This notion of ‘Do you have to raise money?’ Probably. This is a business. But if we keep the trajectory where we are and the revenue growth, this will be a really good business for a long time.”
