The star shared details about the night her mother shot and killed her father in self-defense when she was just 15 years old.

The actress and producer went on to say that the night started like any normal night when she and her mother returned home after watching a movie, only to find their house locked with heavy steel doors due to the violent environment they were living in at the time.
He remembered that fear was already part of his daily life and that things felt different that night.
While driving home, the 50-year-old star even told her mother that she felt like they should leave, something she had never said before.
The Monster actress added that her father then broke into the house and started shooting through the doors, creating a terrifying situation.
She and her mother hid in a bedroom, keeping the door closed as bullets surrounded them, but somehow they were not hurt.
She shared that her mother made a split-second decision to protect them, which led to the tragic outcome.
Charlize said talking about it helps her heal and also helps others feel less alone.
