LAS VEGAS – A six-man ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship featuring some of WWE’s top superstars turned out to be one of the most exciting matches of WrestleMania 42.
Penta hoped to leave Las Vegas just as he arrived: as a champion. He needed to fend off Je’Von Evans, JD McDonagh, Rusev and Dragon Lee to do it.

The reigning champion’s in-ring cunning proved to be too much for all five challengers, as he was able to climb the ladder, take the title and retain the Intercontinental Championship. But it wasn’t without some crazy points.
Penta and McDonagh were jockeying for position at the top of the ladder with another ladder wedged between the corner and the ladder the two wrestlers were standing on. Penta got into position and hit McDonagh with a brutal Mexican Destroyer.

Mysterio also used the ladder for evil. With Rusev standing on the apron and Penta in the middle, Mysterio bounced off the ropes and used Penta as a springboard to smash Rusev through a ladder that was placed between the announce table and the apron.
Evans was also tremendously impressive.
The “Bouncy” flew high around the ring at several times during the match. He slammed multiple OG Cutters into his opponents, using his jumping abilities to eliminate them. Evans was about to take over the Intercontinental Championship but Rusev interrupted his shot.
In the end, Penta hit Evans with another Mexican Destroyer and found himself alone in the ring. He reached the top of the ladder and grabbed the belt to win.

Penta has been champion since March when he defeated Dominik Mysterio.
