- Sony 1000X ‘The Collexion’ Has Been Teased Again (First Seen Last Year)
- Now said to be the 10th anniversary release of Sony cans
- …and they could be very expensive
It’s been almost a decade since Sony got involved with noise-cancelling headphones, with the MDR 1000X in 2016. We’re constantly impressed by the brand’s cans, and the WH-1000XM6 currently tops our list of the best headphones, but it looks like more are on the way.
As discovered by The Walkman Blog, several of Sony’s Antipodean sites have published pages listing something called 1000X The Collexion. We had actually heard this name before, introduced in June 2025, but it was unclear what the title was for.
There are no images yet, suggesting the page was not intended to be published, but some slogans are displayed: “Master the art of listening,” for example.
Article continues below.
Since the page is listed in the headphones section of Sony’s website, it would seem like a given that these are over-ear headphones. However, if there was any doubt, an alt text for an image (the input section for a posted image, to describe what is depicted) is available, which literally describes “1000X The Collexion white headphones”.
Super premium headphones
In some sections of the internet, the name Collexion has been floating around for a while (much to the chagrin of good taste: are we really still putting ‘x’ in device names in a vain attempt to make them sound cool? Is this still the 2000s? Is this a Vin Diesel movie?).
Recently, Deallabs reported a lot of information about these headphones. It’s not clear where the information comes from, so take it with a grain of salt.
According to the site, these headphones will be released on May 19, so we will be able to see them soon. These are said to be super premium headphones that cost €629 (around $740, £550, AU$1,030), far surpassing the $449 / £399 / AU$699 starting price of the WH-1000XM6.
Based on this information, these could be high-end cans that make the WH-1000XM6 look cheap… but they will probably come in a limited version, to validate their price.
At least we won’t have to wait long, if the leak turns out to be genuine. Hopefully we’ll report more on these headphones soon – watch this space.
