Karachi to experience strong winds

Karachi’s weather is expected to remain dry and cool for the next 24 hours, with light fog forecast for Wednesday morning.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 12.5°C on Tuesday and expects the mercury to drop by 11-13°C over the next 24 hours.

Northeast winds are expected and humidity levels are at 52%. A cold wave is expected to hit Karachi and other parts of Sindh from January 24, with temperatures potentially reaching single digits by the end of the month.

Cold westerly winds could cause rain across the country and snowfall in higher areas.

On Sunday morning, the minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 10.2°C, a drop of 4.3°C from the previous day.

Meanwhile, mainly cold and dry weather is expected across most of the country over the next 12 hours.

However, rain with snow is likely over hills in northwestern Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 12 hours.

Patchy light to moderate fog is likely to persist over most districts of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and evening hours.

Temperature of the main cities recorded this morning:

Islamabad, Peshawar and Muzafarabad 6°C, Lahore 13°C, Karachi 14°C, Quetta and Murree 3°C and Gilgit 2°C.

According to the weather forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy and cold weather is expected in Srinagar, Jammu, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramula, while cloudy weather with chances of light rain and snow in Leh.
