At least 11 people were injured in a road accident on the Karakoram Highway in Shangla district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa late on Friday.
Rescue 1122 Shangla District Emergency Officer Eng Malik Sherdil Khan said The express PAkGazette that the incident occurred near the Maira area within Shangla jurisdiction after dark, apparently due to poor visibility on the main road.
He said that according to initial reports, a collision between a ride-share vehicle and a van left several passengers seriously injured.
Residents, along with police and rescue teams, immediately launched a rescue operation. He said Rescue 1122 personnel arrived at the scene quickly and provided first aid to the injured before transporting them to nearby medical facilities.

He said that all the injured were initially transferred to the Basic Health Unit (UBS) of Maira. However, due to the severity of the injuries, eight seriously injured persons were later referred to the Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad for advanced medical treatment.
A local passerby said that the passengers traveling in the van were allegedly from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while those in the car belonged to Bisham and Chakesar areas of Shangla district.
