- A trailer for the new horror film was released last month.

Backrooms is the highly anticipated new movie from A24, and some newly released photos make me even more excited.
In March, the Backrooms The trailer was finally revealed and I noticed that it looked like a perfect adaptation of the Creepypasta story. With Kane Parsons directing it, I’m sure it will be in good hands as he already brought the story to life through his YouTube series.
9 new images have been published for Backroomsbut one in particular really caught my attention and bothered me more than I expected. Let’s discuss my favorite image from the set below.

This single image from Backrooms has left me very uneasy.
As far as teaser images go, the one above was by far the most disturbing to me. We see Renate Reinsve standing in front of a house, which would be a fairly common scenario if it weren’t for the horrible yellow background we’ve come to associate with. Backrooms science.
At first glance, it’s easy to miss that she’s actually inside Backrooms until you focus on that yellow color, when reality hits. I’m very interested in the context of this scene and why they’ve gone for a suburban setting here. Is it to trick the characters into believing they are safe? Does anyone live here?
Take a look at the full set of images below, which IMDb shared via their Instagram.
The Backrooms mystery is endlessly interesting, as it’s very easy to delve into what fans have written about it, expanding its history. We don’t know what could be lurking here, if anything, which is the most disturbing thing to me.
Taking something ordinary and making it feel strange is a big part of liminal horror, as is Exit 8which I gave a four star review. Plus, I interviewed director Genki Kawamura and learned why he’s excited about the Backrooms movie.
The countdown is on for Backroomsand we won’t have to wait long since it will hit theaters on May 29. Are you brave enough to venture in?
