Ohio State Fans celebrated winning a national championship for the first time in more than a decade in the only acceptable way: by storming the field.
No, Buckeyes fans didn’t celebrate with Ohio State on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium field. However, after defeating Notre Dame To win their first championship since 2014, Ohio State fans stormed their own stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Video shared by the Columbus Dispatch showed a large crowd of fans running across campus just after Ohio State held off Notre Dame to claim a 34-23 victory. According to the outlet, it was shortly after midnight when the crowd broke into “The Shoe.”

“It’s really kind of surreal,” freshman Thomas Schmansky said. he told the media of students entering the Ohio Stadium field.
Another student told the newspaper that the celebration was “crazy” and added that she was surprised by the “support” shown by law enforcement on campus.
According to the report, the celebrations began to end around 12:20 am ET.

Ohio State won its sixth national title following a regular season in which a home loss to Michigan raised questions about the team’s playoff chances and whether head coach Ryan Day was about to retire.
“It’s a great story about a group of guys that just got through some really tough situations, and at the point where there’s a lot of people that counted us out (they) just kept swinging and fighting,” Day said after the game.

In the end, this season’s lows, including a fourth straight loss to rival Michigan, didn’t mean much Monday night as the Buckeyes finished the 2024 season on a high note.
