ESPN bought NFL Network and the league’s other digital assets in January, making fans nervous about what it meant for “NFL RedZone,” one of NFL Network’s most beloved shows.

“NFL RedZone” host Scott Hanson told Pak Gazette Digital that ESPN doesn’t want to see “any major material changes” to the show.

“I have good news on that front,” Hanson told Pak Gazette Digital in a recent interview.

“The people at Disney and ESPN love RedZone, like we love RedZone. They don’t want it to change. They realize that all my friends at ESPN who don’t work on NFL Sundays are at home watching NFL Red Zone. They know we’ve served the audience for 17 seasons now, and they don’t want to see any big material changes.”

“Any changes we make, at least from my point of view and the production point of view, will be things that we think will add value or improve a little bit for the viewer, because we are also football fans.”

Hanson said when he watches the game he wants to watch it in an informative and entertaining way, and he wants “NFL RedZone” to be just that.

“I believe in the Golden Rule. I want to do unto others as I would have them do unto me. So I hope all my broadcast friends present this great sport, this great game, in an informative and entertaining way when I watch it on my couch, so I’m going to give it everything I’ve got, we’re going to give it everything we have on Red Zone. I don’t think you’ll see massive changes in September and the first week of RedZone,” Hanson said.

“NFL RedZone” will enter its 18th season this fall. When the acquisition was announced, ESPN said ESPN will distribute the “NFL RedZone” channel to cable and satellite operators.

Although ESPN acquired “NFL RedZone,” the NFL will continue to own, operate and produce the channel. As part of the deal, ESPN will get the rights to the RedZone brand, which could mean college football, basketball and other sports could have their own version of “NFL RedZone.”
