Danhausen’s popularity in WWE skyrocketed in just a few weeks.
He made his Elimination Chamber debut, emerging from the mystery box that left Raw general manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis baffled for weeks. While his character didn’t exactly resonate with fans at first, he became very popular when he “cursed” several of his professional wrestling colleagues.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T said he believed Danhausen would work out no matter what.
“When Danhausen came in, everyone shitted on him,” he recalled in an interview with Pak Gazette Digital. “Everyone was like, ‘Man, what the hell is going on? This isn’t going to work.’ Everyone but me. I’m literally the minority in this whole thing. I told them, look guys, I don’t know what you’re all thinking, but when you take wrestlers and characters like Danhausen out of the wrestling business, you lose sight of what the wrestling business really is.

“We need the George ‘The Animal’ Steeles of this business. We need those characters that will go out and bring the levity and just make you feel a certain way and just be fun for you. And I said this guy was going to be a merchandising machine, you know, a marketing machine. And he’s proven to be everything I said he was going to be. So, for me, I love that Danhausen’s character is a part of the WWE. I said, if he had never done the spina-rooni, what would he do? “Would my career have been if The Rock had never done the People’s Elbow, where would my careers have gone without that? So, for me, I love having Danhausen as a part of the WWE.”
Danhausen has appeared on Raw and SmackDown since his debut with the company, but his feud with The Miz went up a notch when he ruined The Miz’s WrestleMania moment and defeated him in a match on SmackDown.

Danhausen has also placed a “curse” on the New York Mets and ESPN announcer Stephen A. Smith in recent weeks.
