- You can now interact with data and create complete dashboards with Gemini in Sheets
- Google Meet AI Briefings Now Extending to In-Person and Third-Party Conferencing Platforms
- AI has enabled Google to further streamline the transition from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace
Google Cloud just held its biggest event yet, but with more than 260 announcements across its portfolio at Google Cloud Next 2026, many of Google Workspace’s smaller but no less important updates flew under the radar.
In a “one last thing”-like blog post, the company detailed a series of less headline-worthy improvements it implemented to its online Workspace apps to make Gemini even more useful.
With the changes, Gemini is moving from a generative tool for producing new content to an agent assistant that can interact with the context of your documents and perform some functionality autonomously.

Google Workspace just received these updates
Building on one of the most used Workspace apps, Sheets now allows users to analyze their data and produce dashboards in a more conversational way.
The company also claimed that 110 million Google Meet attendees used ‘Take Notes For Me’ in the last month, an 8.5x growth compared to last year, so it is now making AI-generated summaries and action items available beyond the four walls of Meet, including in-person meetings and calls on other platforms like Zoom and Teams.
And for organizations, Gemini Enterprise customers will be able to create new documents according to their brand and requirements with the new ‘Canvas Mode’. With detailed messaging, Gemini can pull data and context from the web and other Workspace locations to generate rich presentations and documents that are as editable as those created by humans.
Finally, Google Cloud’s stance against Microsoft did not go badly at its annual conference. After previously filing a complaint against Microsoft’s cloud practices, Google now says it’s up to 5x faster for M365 customers to migrate to Workspace thanks to some internal interoperability improvements, such as an AI-powered Office macro converter.
