- TI: Welcome to DerryThe creator wants to explore the 1930s in season 2.
- This would have a particular focus in The Bradley Gang, as seen in Stephen King’s original novel.
- However, HBO Max has not officially renewed the horror series.
TI: Welcome to Derry It was one of my favorite HBO Max shows of last year, and in my four-star review I called it a “must-watch.” So you can imagine my excitement for the upcoming plot details, even if we have no official confirmation that season 2 will move forward.
He HE The prequel series was developed by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, who worked on the two film adaptations starring Bill SkarsgĂ„rd. Through the show, they were able to explore Stephen King’s massive novel even more, and it doesn’t look like they want to stop anytime soon.
Speaking to Deadline, series creator Andy Muschietti revealed that season 2 would explore a subplot that Stephen King added in the 1986 original. HE novel. We will go back in time, this time to 1935, in case the series is given the green light.

He told the site: “It’s 1935; we’re working on it now and it’s a lot of fun. For those of you who read the books, the Bradley Gang probably sounds familiar. The Bradley Gang were a gang of bank robbers who, not by chance, but were on their way somewhere, stopped in Derry to buy ammunition and something horrible happens.”
As Muschietti points out, fans of the novel will know this gang well, with brothers George and Al Bradley leading the group of bandits who tried to rob shop owners in Derry, until something terrible happened to them.
Despite being secondary characters in the novel, Muschietti was interested in real-life inspiration and hopes to give them more air time on TI: Welcome to Derry.
He added: “Bradley Gang is based on the Brady Gang, which is a real-life gang of robbers who were executed on the streets of Bangor, Maine.”
“It’s fascinating because what’s so fun at this stage of development is that we’re facing an era, which is the Depression Era, that dramatically changes the shape of things. There’s no suburban comfort; the trope of kids living in the suburbs and riding their bikes, and suddenly one of them disappears, is nothing like this.
Muschietti concluded: “This is 1935. It is a very terrible situation. The people are very poor. They are fighting to survive, so the situation will be very different.”
Right now, we’re still waiting for HBO Max to officially announce the renewal. But given the huge success of season 1, I wouldn’t be surprised if one comes out very soon. Until then, you can watch all of Season 1 on the streaming service.
