After decades of car chases, crime thrillers, and casino hijinks, John Travolta may finally be ready to trade in the action hero life for something a little softer and a lot more flirtatious.
Almost 50 years later Fat made him Hollywood’s quintessential heartthrob, the 72-year-old star is reportedly looking for the perfect return to the romantic comedy.
And according to inside sources, there’s one woman at the top of the wish list: Sandra Bullock.
“John has had such a long career in action and drama that that has been his bread and butter,” a source said. Nearest magazine.
“But the truth is that he actually likes romantic comedies more, those are the movies that he loves to watch and he wants to try to make one before it’s too late.”
Hollywood apparently agrees. While names like Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan have been floated, insiders say Sandra is the “dream pick.”
And honestly? Danny Zuko flirting with the queen of romantic comedies sounds like the kind of movie people would watch on a rainy Sunday.
“They haven’t worked together before, but they have a fantastic relationship and people think they would work great as an on-screen couple,” the source said. “Of course, the people in their world also secretly hope that something else might emerge between them once they start working together.”
The couple crossed paths for years in Hollywood circles and shared a fun moment on the Oscars stage. They also reportedly share mutual friends, including Nicole Kidman.
Behind the scenes, the friends believe their connection goes beyond Hollywood small talk. Both stars know a devastating loss: John lost his wife Kelly Preston in 2020 after her battle with breast cancer, while Sandra mourned her former partner Brian Randall after his battle with ALS.
“They share the same painful story of losing their soulmates too soon,” the source said. “Sandra continues to mourn Brian intensely and there is no doubt that John also misses Kelly every day.”
For now, there’s no romance, and maybe not a romantic comedy yet.
But insiders say that if the right script lands on their desks, Hollywood could land its next unexpected dream partner.
