Meghan Markle’s father appeared to have done a U-turn on a major decision after proclaiming his love for his nurse caregiver in the Philippines.
Thomas Markle, who has been separated from his daughter for almost seven years, was finally reunited with his family after making a public plea to Meghan.
The retired Hollywood lighting director had stated that he did not want to die being estranged from his daughter and without knowing his grandchildren. And now it appears he is taking a step toward fulfilling that hope by returning to the United States.
Thomas returns months after having his first correspondence with his estranged daughter. Following life-threatening surgery and leg amputation in December, Meghan sent a handwritten letter to her father and urged him to keep the contents private.
It is unclear if a meeting was mentioned in the near future.
Thomas wants to walk again, so he has returned to be fitted with a state-of-the-art prosthesis and be closer to his family, according to mail on sunday.
Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, also confirmed the news and revealed that her father has returned for medical care.
“He will be able to get the best prosthetics here and be surrounded by supportive friends and family. Even though he has been through such traumatic times, this has been a positive spiritual experience for Dad,” she said.
According MoSThomas had an emotional farewell at the airport with his girlfriend Rio Canedo, who is just two years older than Meghan. The couple intends to stay in touch.
However, he is now closer to Meghan and the children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Thomas recently reiterated that he loves Meghan and “always will.” He also expressed his desire to meet his grandchildren.
It remains to be seen if a reunion between Meghan and her father is possible just as it was for Prince Harry and King Charles.
