The physical distance between Prince Harry and King Charles has been significantly less over the past week, but there was still no opportunity for father and son to get to know each other.
While the optics may seem unfavorable for the Sussexes on the reconciliation front, things are somewhat positive behind the scenes, according to royal expert Jennie Bond.
She shared that although Charles was unable to see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet during his visit, Harry understands how “high risk” the trip had been and the crucial mission the monarch was on.
Plus, the Duke of Sussex was probably happy with how things played out at the White House, especially after he made a similar appeal.
It seems that Charles and Henry are united on a key issue in global affairs: ending the war in Ukraine.
Bond claimed that Harry probably felt that President Trump “didn’t deserve all the reflected glory of having the King and Queen in the White House.”
However, he would have been “quietly proud of the way Charles deftly delivered some pretty direct political responses to the things Trump has been saying.”
She explained to the mirror, “Harry is united with his father in the need to support Ukraine, for example. And he would have appreciated his father’s nuanced criticism of Trump’s insults towards British servicemen and women and our naval power.”
