- Audeze has announced the ReSkin earbuds, a set of limited edition earbud designs for the Maxwell 2 earbuds.
- The range launches with six designs, including a full set from a Southern California artisan.
- The headset is available from Audeze for $39.99 or $59.99 and is compatible with the PlayStation and Xbox variants of the Maxwell 2.
The Audeze Maxwell 2 is one of my favorite gaming headsets in recent years. However, it’s slightly guilty of a familiar sin shared by many more audiophile headphones on the market: its aesthetic is very simple.
However, that was until now. Audeze has announced a new set of replaceable earbuds called the ‘ReSkin’ line, offering owners the chance to take advantage of Maxwell 2’s “user-interchangeable magnetic earbud covers to give owners the chance to give their headphones style and personality,” and the first images the brand has released look really cool.
This is incredible news on a couple of fronts. Firstly, while the Maxwell 2 is really great as a gaming headset, its design is essentially a symphony of black or very dark materials, so the ReSkin headset could be a perfect way to break that and make the headset much more unique and original.
Secondly, Audeze CEO Sankar Thiagasamudram has already stated that the brand will “regularly release new designs and collaborations”, so we know that in addition to these initial six designs, there are more on the way, so the options will be numerous and wide, hopefully.
In these six initial designs, there’s an
Here’s what Audeze has revealed so far:
- Panopticon All Seeing Eye
- Flow warning futuristic biohazard sign
- Kankan Koneko Angry Cat
- Planar Scan Audeze Controller Design
- Audeze Deco White Mug Contemporary Style
- Dia De Los Muertos No.001 – No.006 (Prestige Edition) — a set of six designs
And this is what some of those designs look like on the Audeze Maxwell 2. Some of them are absolute beauties.
It’s a similar system to that found on the SteelSeries headsets, which allow users to change the earcup plates and headbands to the colors of their choice, and it’s a very welcome addition.
Audeze says they will be easy to wear and “can be easily removed with a simple movement thanks to their lightweight magnetic design, making it easy for customers to switch between their favorite designs at any time.”
Priced at $39.99 or $59.99, the ReSkin headset will be compatible with PlayStation and Xbox variants of the headset, and is available now from the brand.
