Amazon has confirmed when The rings of power Season 3 will debut on Prime Video.
During its Upfronts 2026 presentation yesterday (May 11), Amazon announced its the lord of the rings The prequel will return to our screens on Wednesday, November 11. No other details were provided regarding its imminent release, such as how many episodes will drop on the aforementioned date. However, we did get a look at the next chapter of the show via a new image, which you can see below:

It should not surprise us that The rings of power Will be back before the end of the year. After all, filming is over The rings of power season 3 last December, so a 12-month post-production cycle, even for a series of this scale, is enough time to ensure it’s ready to air before 2027 rolls around.
There’s also been plenty of other news about one of Prime Video TV’s biggest originals over the past year.
For a start, stranger things‘ Jamie Campbell-Bower and Stops the heartEddie Marsan has joined The rings of power for season 3 in what are expected to be important roles. That pair was joined by three more additions to the cast to The Rings of Power 3 when filming began in June 2025.
As for what we know about its plot, The Lord of the Rings The television series will feature a big jump in time after the end of last season. According to the official blurb for this season, it “takes place at the height of the Elven-Sauron War, as the Dark Lord seeks to create the One Ring that will give him the advantage he needs to win the war, unite all the peoples to his will, and ultimately rule all of Middle-earth.” Finally, then, we can expect The One Ring to be designed by Charlie Vickers’ Big Bad.
What else does the first image of The Rings of Power season 3 tell us about its story?
Possible spoilers follow The rings of power season 3.
The truth is, not much. In fact, it only shows Vickers’ Sauron standing in a dimly lit room while wearing the crown of Morgoth, which he acquired in the final episode of season 2. To remember what happened in that chapter, read my The rings of power Explained piece from the season 2 finale.
Although the image doesn’t confirm much about this season’s plot, we can still analyze it and speculate about what is happening here. My best guess? This is where Sauron finally forges The One Ring and/or the formidable fear-inducing armor he wears during the climactic battle known as The Last Alliance of Men and Elves, which takes place at the end of the Second Age of Middle-earth.
Admittedly, it’s too early in the timeline for that significant conflict to take place in season 3. However, with Prime Video already confirming that Sauron will forge the One Ring this season, and the image above appears to show the Dark Lord in a location that appears close to Mount Doom, aka the place where he crafts his prized, magical trinket, the stage is set for Sauron’s attempts to attempt to tyrannically rule Middle-earth.
