ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology passed the Pakistan Digital Nation Amendment Bill 2024 by a majority vote amid opposition and concern over the rush to pass the law.
Ten members voted in favor and six against the bill. Minister of State for IT and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja, who introduced the bill last month, highlighted the need for digital transformation to address critical public issues, reduce financial fraud and address growing cybersecurity threats national.
The committee, chaired by Syed Aminul Haque, deliberated on the bill before the final vote.
