- Sony’s PlayStation State of Play returns on June 2, 2026 and features Marvel Wolverine as main act
- The showcase will last over an hour, featuring gaming news and announcements from top studios around the world.
- It will also be showing at Alamo Drafthouse theaters, suggesting a big reveal is on the horizon.
Gaming in 2026 is already packed with games in the pipeline for release, particularly the most anticipated of all in grand theft car 6 from Rockstar Games, and it’s apparently about to get even better this June.
Sony has announced that its next PlayStation State of Play will take place on June 2 and will feature a new reveal of Marvel Wolverinefeaturing “over 60 minutes” of game updates, announcements, and reveals from “the best studios around the world.”
The exhibition will begin with Insomniac Games’ Marvel Wolverinefocusing on brave combat and new details about what the third-person action-adventure game will have to offer when it launches on September 15, 2026.
As for other games, we can expect almost anything to appear, based on Sony’s brief overview of the high-quality studios showing up around the world, and Sony is also hosting a fan viewing event at several Alamo Drafthouse theaters for State of Play, so it seems like something significant besides. Marvel Wolverine is on the horizon.
It’s worth noting that Summer Game Fest 2026 starts three days later on June 5, so there’s plenty of speculation in the meantime. That being said, here’s what I hope shows up.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Expansion
Dragon Dogma 2 has not left the discussion among players since its launch in 2024, with the expectation of an expansion. Capcom inevitably did just that for the franchise’s first entry, with Dragon Dogma: Dark Arisen adding a new region, story, bosses, equipment, and enemies to face on Bitterblack Isle.
Fans also believe that Capcom recently teased the existence of an expansion in its latest anniversary celebration post, along with some mysterious additions to the game on the Steam backend. In that case, it wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest that there’s a strong possibility that a reveal is on the cards.
star blade 2
Shift Up has had no qualms about advancing the development of the star swordThe sequel recently claimed development is progressing smoothly in its latest earnings report, so it may be time to reveal what the developers have been cooking up behind closed doors.
The sequel will be self-released this time around and will likely hit PC on day one, moving away from the exclusive timed format of the first entry. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Shift Up won’t reveal the game in a State of Play, so it’s not an unrealistic expectation or desire for the June 2 event.
grand theft car 6
Definitely, GTA 6 is a title that is highly unlikely to be revealed at Sony’s next State of Play, as Rockstar Games is more than sure to host a big reveal.
However, there have been rumors about Rockstar and PlayStation marketing collaboration for the game, and since Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has already stated that marketing for GTA 6 will begin during the summer, June 2 (or, frankly, June 5 during Summer Game Fest) seems like the ideal time for that.
It’s a bit of a long shot, but it would make sense since Sony is showing the event in a theater, a move it hasn’t committed to in years, setting the stage for massive public reactions.
