CNG stations in KP to reopen today

ISLAMABAD:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday announced that compressed natural gas (CNG) stations across the province will resume operations from Thursday (today), providing much-needed relief to transporters, motorists and the general public after weeks of disruption.

Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad along with KP Opposition Leader Dr Ebadullah and Provincial Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam, the governor said that the provincial government, opposition parties and the federal government have worked together to resolve the long-standing gas shortage issue.

“From tomorrow (Thursday) CNG stations will be opened in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Gas supply will be made uninterrupted from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day,” Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated. He added that an agreement was reached with the federal government to supply 35 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMPCD) of gas to the province.

The Governor emphasized that all political parties in KP are united in addressing the problems faced by the people of the province. “Solving the province’s problems is our top priority. Every stakeholder must play their role. We want a strong federation, so we have directly requested the Prime Minister to take note of the matter,” he said.

Governor Kundi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for constituting a high-level committee to resolve the CNG gas supply issue. He particularly thanked Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah and Federal Minister Ali Pervez Malik for their proactive role in resolving the crisis. “We have informed the Prime Minister about the CNG situation and a positive decision has been taken,” he said.

The Governor also welcomed the swift action of the federal government on the wheat crisis and stated that the issue is expected to be resolved in the next one or two days. “Positive progress is being made to address the legitimate concerns of the province. The harmony between the federation and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is commendable,” he added.

Highlighting the unusual political unity of the province, Governor Kundi praised the joint efforts of the provincial government and opposition parties.
