New England Patriots veteran safety Jabrill Peppers pleaded guilty to cocaine possession in court Thursday as part of a domestic violence incident that occurred on Oct. 5, 2024.
Peppers, who faces more charges, should be acquitted of the charge as long as he finishes a four-month probationary period without reoffending, according to the New York Post.
However, the 29-year-old, who served as captain last season for the Patriots, is also being charged with strangulation, assault and battery after a woman told authorities he pushed her head against a wall, choking her. and took off her clothes before forcing her to leave.

Peppers pleaded not guilty to those charges and said his alleged girlfriend was acting “erratic” at the time and was intoxicated at the same time. He alleges she became angry after he refused to have unprotected sex with her.
Marc Brofsky, Peppers’ attorney, said in October that there is “videotaped evidence” that “casts real doubt on the allegations.”

Patriots owner Robert Kraft said the team was investigating the incident after Peppers was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list at the time. He later returned to the Patriots in December, where he remained as captain under now-former head coach Jerod Mayo.
Peppers, a native of East Orange, New Jersey, watched jury selection for his trial begin Thursday.
Peppers, a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2017, played two seasons in Cleveland before being traded to the New York Giants, who play not far from where he grew up.
Peppers was part of the infamous 2019 Odell Beckham Jr. trade to the Browns.
He played three seasons for the Giants before joining the Patriots for the 2022 season. Last season was disappointing for the entire franchise as they finished 4-13, leading to Kraft’s decision to fire Mayo as head coach. after one season.
Peppers finished the year with 40 combined tackles and one interception in six games.
