The Testaments season 2: key information
– Season 2 was renewed before the end of Season 1.
– No release or plot details have been confirmed at the time of writing.
– It is expected to continue adapting Margaret Atwood’s novel.
– The main cast is also expected to return.
What if I said I prefer? The wills to The Handmaid’s Tale? So what? Frankly, there’s no better time to have that opinion, since Hulu and Disney+ have already renewed Season 2.
The news came a week before the explosive Season 1 finale, in which Becka (Mattea Conforti) married Garth (Brad Alexander) to save her reputation, Agnes’ (Chase Infiniti) engagement was broken off for being too close to Dr. Grove’s (Randal Edwards) murder, and Daisy (Lucy Halliday) returned to Gilead to help save Becka’s life.
In a heartbreaking scene, we saw Becka emotionally marry while her mother took the blame for murdering her father, and episode 9 revealed that Becka was actually the one behind this. We also get romantic tension between Becka and Agnes, and the two kiss before the ceremony.
If you’ve read Margaret Atwood’s original novel, you know we’re only part of the way to adapting it. So what can we expect from The wills season 2?
The Testaments Season 2 Release Date Window Predictions
Look
At the moment, predictions about the release date for season 2 are incomplete. Production hasn’t even started yet and we have no idea when this might change.
Based on this, we can assume that the earliest we’ll see new episodes will be mid-2027, but my hunch tells me we could be waiting until 2028.
The Testaments Season 2 Trailer: Is There One?
Not yet, and that won’t change for a while. It took us until early March 2026 to get one for Season 1, so expect the first full trailer to arrive about four weeks before the second season arrives.

The Testaments Season 2 Plot Predictions
Possible spoilers for The wills Season 2 ahead.
If you’ve read the original novel, you’ll know that Aunt Lydia’s eventual betrayal of Gilead will likely be explored further in The wills season 2. We’ve already seen things start to fall into place as she helps save Becka and aligns herself with Daisy and Agnes.
June’s youngest daughter is originally Daisy in the novel, but in the television show, Daisy is a completely independent character. It remains to be seen if this will be addressed or if June’s other daughter will be revealed to be someone else.
While the plot will likely differ from what’s in the book, we can expect the Aunts to leak incriminating information about Gilead’s elite in Canada, and more Mayday agents will be revealed as the season progresses.
Will there be more seasons of The Testaments?
As of this writing, it’s hard to say, but depending on what season 2 includes, there could still be more room for adaptation in season 3 and beyond. The Handmaid’s Tale It used Atwood’s novel as a launching pad to develop it over six seasons, so creative license is likely.
“I always have to think in eternal terms, because you never know if you’re going to be renewed,” creator Bruce Miller told TechRadar. “In the old days, they would pull the card in the middle of the day, when you were on episode 4 of season 2, and then you would have nothing left. They have very, very generously given us a lot of space and time to think about our endings.
“I tried really hard to think about the characters and their stories in a much more general way. What are they doing day to day? How are they living? How are they figuring things out? So season 1 is really about Agnes’ awakening, and in the end, it’s just the beginning.
“Every ending in Margaret’s world is always a very good beginning,” Miller continues. “So I don’t think in terms of number of seasons. But if you think about the awakening of a 14 or 15-year-old girl, her recovery and her action, those things can go on for quite a long time.
“There are many stories to tell based on the world of Agnes, Daisy and Aunt Lydia and the challenges they face.”
Adds executive producer Warren Littlefield: “If you study Margaret’s novels and are a fan of The Handmaid’s Taleand then you enter WillsAgnes catches up at the end of the season with what you may know as a reader and follower of our show.
“Agnes becomes aware of her roots and where she came from. I think that leads to a wonderful opening of what’s next for her.”
