The U.S. men’s national team may not have won its World Cup warm-up friendly against Germany on Saturday, but Antonee Robinson scored a goal that will definitely get any American fan excited for what’s potentially to come.
The United States trailed 1-0 when the game entered the 37th minute. A corner kick was deflected off the head of a German defender and outside the area where Robinson was waiting for a shot on goal. The ball beat Oliver Baumann and tied the game at one apiece.

It was Robinson’s fifth international goal for the United States and his first this year. He had not scored while playing for the United States since 2023.
“Sick. I mean, it’s a sick goal,” Christian Pulisic said after the game.
Robinson said he had never scored a goal like that in a competitive match.
“Going to a World Cup means a lot to have in mind that I’ve scored something like that and a little freedom to shoot again if I’m in that position,” he said.

Germany won the match 2-1.
Despite losing their ninth consecutive game against a European team, the Americans felt confident heading into the World Cup.
“I mean, against a really good team, I thought we were dangerous at times,” Pulisic said. “We had good stretches of possession, we defended well during good moments. And, yeah, honestly, I think we felt good.”
