ISLAMABAD:
The federal government has made it mandatory for all public officials to declare details of any dual nationality within 90 days, formally kicking off the implementation of the Foreign Nationality Rules 2026.
According to an office memorandum issued by the Establishment Division, the government has directed all public servants to submit a complete declaration regarding their citizenship status within the stipulated time frame.
Under the new framework that came into force on June 1, a special declaration form related to dual nationality was prepared and distributed to all relevant ministries, divisions and departments for compliance.
The memo states that all government officials and employees are now required to disclose complete information about any foreign nationality, passports, permanent residence status or other affiliations abroad.
Additionally, public officials have been ordered to provide details about the citizenship and immigration status of their spouses and dependent children. The measure aims to ensure greater transparency in the public service and maintain official records of foreign affiliations.
The government has also made it mandatory for new recruits in the civil service to submit declarations related to foreign nationality and immigration status at the time of joining.
The office memo warns that any official or employee found concealing facts or submitting false information will face departmental action under relevant rules.
In addition, it emphasizes that it is also mandatory to disclose participation in foreign immigration programs, travel documents and residence abroad.
Meanwhile, specific instructions have been issued to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials, particularly those working in Customs and Revenue, to submit their declaration forms by July 8.
