Pakistan and Egypt discuss regional developments, agree to stay in touch


Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Thursday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, during which both sides discussed regional developments and underlined the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

In a post on X, the MoFA said the two foreign ministers discussed regional developments and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

According to the ministry, Abdelatty appreciated Pakistan’s continued mediation efforts, while both leaders expressed hope that the ongoing efforts would lead to an early understanding between the parties and contribute to lasting regional peace and stability.

The MoFA said Abdelatty also extended an invitation to the deputy prime minister and the foreign minister to attend the next meeting of the Regional Four (R-4) Foreign Ministers in Egypt later this month, which the DPM/FM accepted.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact, the ministry added.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dar underlined the importance of developing a competitive, innovative and sustainable automotive ecosystem.

He highlighted that such a system could support economic growth, improve industrial capacity, generate skilled jobs and promote environmental sustainability through a future-ready automotive sector.

Dar chaired a high-level meeting to review the automobile and auto parts policy, with a particular focus on accelerating Pakistan’s transition towards electric vehicles (EVs), the DPM’s Office said in a statement.

The committee was briefed on measures to promote the adoption of electric vehicles and strengthen domestic manufacturing.
