The BBC has released the trailer and first images of the new legal drama. The separationwhich will be a series derived from the popular drama The division starring Nicola Walker.
Across six episodes, the new drama will follow a family story set within the high-pressure world of Manchester’s high-net-worth divorce circuit.
In short, we combine all the heart of The division but with a new setting, characters and stories.
Created by Ursula Rani Sarma instead of the show’s original creator Abi Morgan, The division will be used as a springboard for new material instead of The separation being a continuation.
Watch the trailer below and I’m sure you’ll agree that the new series looks even more intense than what we’ve seen before, and means we’ve got some unmissable binge-watching on our hands.

In the clip above, we follow Aria Kishan (Ritu Arya), a rapidly rising star of Kishan Law. She is ready to step up and take command from her father Dhruv (Sanjeev Bhaskar) and Aria’s siblings Maya (Aysha Kala), Kav (Arian Nik) and her partner Neal (Danny Ashok).
As the BBC explains: “The death of Aria’s mother has shed new light on Dhruv’s succession plans, and he has begun to wonder whether his daughter can, or should, take on this responsibility alone.
“Aria’s relationship is also under scrutiny, with a wedding to her long-term partner, Neal, on the horizon, but with their personal and professional lives so intertwined that it’s unclear whether their relationship can withstand any more pressure, a problem further compounded when an old secret love (Dimitri Leonidas) unexpectedly arrives in Manchester.
It continues: “Alongside her siblings Maya and Kav, whose own relationships and loyalties are far from simple, Aria must overcome the divisions that divide family and those we love, and ask herself: who should you live your life for?”
Tense! On top of that, we can expect guest star appearances from Lenny Henry, Jane Horrocks, and Jameela Jamil.
